Fort Armstrong was built in 1907 and operated by the U.S Navy until 1950. Today, it is a port facility in Honolulu Harbor on Oahu. It mainly serves container ships and cruise ships.
The parking lots in the area already had outdated solar lighting installed. This meant that there was no existing infrastructure for wired lighting. Our partners at Goldwings Supply Service Inc, a Native Hawaiian owned company, were responsible for upgrading the lighting in the Fort. Having the solar light be self-contained to prevent any battery tampering was important for this project.
18 BFL Series solar lights were used to replace the aging solar lights. They provide full light coverage in the busy port and ensure the safety of both workers and visitors.
