Philadelphia, PA

Philadelphia is one of the nation’s most historic cities, with its downtown core home to landmarks such as the Liberty Bell, the Philadelphia Museum of Art (whose 72 steps were famously ascended in “Rocky”), and Independence Hall – where the forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence. This historic foundation is contrasted by the city’s continuously evolving modernized urban centers, well-exemplified by Northern Liberties’ development plan for their downtown commercial district.

First Light’s IPL solar luminaires have been installed along the district’s sidewalks as part of an early stage in Northern Liberties’ master plan for the area. This plan includes adding 5,600 commercial and residential units and a complete design and layout transformation of the strip into a modern, pedestrian-centric shopping hub. Our IPL luminaire was selected for this project due its minimalist modern design, along with the design freedom inherent in a no-trenching-required solar fixture.
